A Glimpse of YIBRI Studio, captured by Min Kim
Welcome to YIBRI studio based in Hackney Wick. It’s the space where our ideas take shape — slowly, thoughtfully — and where garments begin to find their form. Fabric drapes are tested, proportions quietly adjusted, all against the backdrop of gentle conversation and the occasional rustle of paper patterns. There’s a kind of dialogue between the physical and the imagined — between what’s on the table and what might come next.
A bum door stopper, once broken but repaired, is one of our favourite and essential objects in the studio. It keeps the space open, letting the air and light move freely. The first thing we do each day is open the door and the windows, letting in fresh air so the room begins to breathe.
A rail of sample garments grows steadily as the season unfolds. We return to these pieces again and again — touching, studying, refining — using them as both reference and inspiration.
On the wall, two flip clocks mark different time zones — China and the UK — a quiet reminder of the two working worlds that shape our days in the studio.
We review drape and movement, then confirm lines that feel right. Our approach is material-led and restrained. We favour soft structure, clean lines, and refined simplicity. Comfortable proportions and careful seams support everyday wear. The aim is a timeless wardrobe that lives well.
We read each piece, plans small adjustments, and moves into making.Cutting, sewing, and fitting follow, where structure and ease find balance.
The pace stays measured, practical, and quietly focused. Materials take shape through the intuition of the hand, guided by touch as much as by plan. Small adjustments happen almost without thought — a seam eased, a fold refined, a line softened — each decision shaping the garment’s character.
A small collection of objects sits quietly on the worktable. Each piece carries its own story, found in different places. In their stillness, they sparks inspiration of shapes, form, and tones.
Objects, fabrics, and tools hold the presence of time. This is where our design takes form. Each mark and trace record the work of many seasons. Here, the process reveals itself, and the studio becomes part of the collection’s story.
